Trying hard to stay looking fresh-faced? We have compiled a few beauty skincare rules you never knew you needed.
Double Mask
Facial masks provide deep nourishment to the skin but most of the time it is missing the under eye area. If you experience the same problem too, try double masking. Simply place an eye patch under your facial mask to reap the benefits of double masking. It’s that simple!
On the other hand, if you are applying facial mask one after another so that each formula serves its own purpose at each time, do so after checking all the ingredients and understand how each mask works. This is because our skin can only absorb so much before hitting the limit. Any more will render the supposed benefits ineffective.
The Don’ts of Double Masking
If you use a deeply hydrating mask that contains some oils, then layer another mask on top, you could render the top mask practically useless. “Because the first mask contained oils, whatever you layered on top will not be able to penetrate through to the skin since oils create a barrier over the skin,” according to celebrity esthetician Renée Rouleau (the woman behind Demi Lovato’s radiant complexion).
Moisture retention in human skin usually peaks in a person’s twenties and gradually ebbs as we grow older. Therefore, consistent or constant hydration is crucial to prevent skin dryness and aging.
So- how is double moisturizing more effective than single moisturizing? Double moisturizing preserves skin’s moisture from drying out after double cleansing and prevents bacteria entering our skin causing irritation.
Double moisturizing works in two stages (the last step of your entire skincare routine). First, a moisturizing lotion, followed by an emulsion or cream usually richer in texture that packs a punch of hydration in them. CARING TIP: If you fear its oiliness/rich texture will stain your pillow case, just make sure you put a towel on your pillow case so you don’t leave a mess behind.
Massage your neck
Most of us often fail to take proper care of our neck as the focus always goes to the face. By the time you realize you need neck care is when you start to notice that the skin on you neck has become darker, and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
One way to tackle these problems is through massaging your neck and décolleté (lower neckline area). Massages release the tension build up in your shoulders and once the tension is gone you can see your skin being lifted. Since your skin below your neck is slightly thicker, apply a little more pressure while you exfoliate and moisturize. Use an upward motion from lower region to upper region and avoid circular motions or top-down.
CARING TIP:
#1. If you are looking into applying neck cream, consider your choice of wardrobe and their material. You do not want to stain your clothes or wear anything scratchy, like wool, can cause irritation.
#2. Do not over massage. A neck massage should last for 10 mins or less. Overdoing it can strain the neck skin.
